How can I be forgiven of my sin, know God, and know that I will go to heaven when I die?
The Bible states that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23) and “the wages of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23a). Since God is perfect and holy, man cannot approach Him because of sin. Yet out of His love, God made a way. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). The only cure for sin is a perfect sacrifice. Only Jesus, the Son of God, could be the perfect sacrifice because of His deity and His sinless life. Jesus took our place by taking our sin upon Himself and dying on our behalf. God raised Him up to life three days later and after appearing to many, He ascended into Heaven. By confessing Jesus as your Lord and Savior and placing your trust in Him you no longer have to live in separation from God. Those who do not accept the free gift of salvation will spend eternity in a place of separation from God called Hell. But those who accept the free gift are brought into eternal life. God is “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Pet. 3:9b), but the choice is yours. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10b).
